NEW YORK: Seven independent healthcare PR firms have joined forces to form GlobalHealthPR - what it claims is the world's largest independent healthcare PR network.

Two of the agencies - Chamberlain Communications in New York and Spectrum Science in Washington, DC - are based in the US. The others include GroupePR in Paris, FischerAppelt Kommunikations in Germany, PRForce in the Netherlands and Belgium, Inoue PR in Tokyo, and Sante Communications in London (the group's headquarters).

Liz Shanahan, managing director of Sante, is the founder and chair of the network, which boasts 180 staffers.

Richard Chamberlain, president of Chamberlain Communications, said, "Each of the independent firms has done international work before the alliance was formed, but now we have the infrastructure and talent to deliver the drive of an independent agency globally."

The firms' combined revenues total $28 million, and individually represent such healthcare giants as Aventis, Biogen, Pfizer, and Eli Lilly. Next week, when the network begins conducting business, members will attempt to parlay existing regional client relationships into ones extending across the international network, as well as work to attract new business as a unit.
