Burson finds new boss for Midwest

CHICAGO: Burson-Marsteller has lured away the head of Fleishman-Hillard's Chicago office. Bob McEwen, Fleishman senior partner and GM in Chicago, will become president/CEO of Burson's Midwest region.

CHICAGO: Burson-Marsteller has lured away the head of Fleishman-Hillard's Chicago office. Bob McEwen, Fleishman senior partner and GM in Chicago, will become president/CEO of Burson's Midwest region.

Chet Burchett, president and CEO of Burson in the US - and McEwan's predecessor - said, "I've been waiting for the right time and the right person

to replace him in the Midwest. The spot has been vacant since last summer, when Burchett moved from Chicago to New York.

McEwen said, "It's a step up for me. This will be an opportunity to spread my wings a little more. We're going to be a lot more aggressive in going after business in the whole region."

At Burson, McEwen's territory will stretch from just West of Pittsburgh to just East of California, and from Canada to Texas, said Burchett. The region is the largest in Burson's US empire. "He is responsible for the growth of the region,

Burchett said of McEwen.

Fleishman chairman/CEO John Graham is overseeing a search to replace McEwen.
