SOUTH BEND, IN: The University of Notre Dame is searching for someone to lead its newly formed marketing communications department.It recently hired Matthew Storin, a former Boston Globe editor, as associate VP for news and information, another newly created operation. Storin will also oversee internal communications, the first time someone has had that responsibility.
Both the marketing communications and the news and information departments grew out of a nearly year-long reorganization of the university's PR and information department, said Louis Nanni, VP for public affairs and communications.
Under the old organizational structure, "public affairs and communications were becoming the poor stepchildren of development and alumni relations,
The university, which consistently has a high media profile, wants to do more proactive PR rather than merely react to news or developments, Nanni said.
