How long have you been working there? A year and seven months.How did you end up in your job? After college, a friend of a friend of a friend needed help with Julio Cesar Chavez's last fight in Phoenix.
I accepted, not knowing anything about boxing or what I was getting myself into. On the night of the event, my current boss offered me a job and said I had to move to California. I packed up and moved two weeks later.
Describe the space you work in My office has no windows, but we do have a synthetic tree, which still dons Christmas lights, creating a festive effect all year. We also have many posters and pictures from various sporting events we have worked on.
Do you socialize with your colleagues outside of work? Yes. I actually lived with a coworker who sat right next to me for a year.
What is the best thing about working there? Getting to travel. I spend most of my time in Las Vegas, which is never boring. I have worked on fights in Denmark, New York City, and am planning one for London this summer.
If you could change one thing about your job, what would it be? I'd like to be able to work from home. LA traffic is terrible and telecommuting would be a welcome change.
What is the most exciting project you have worked on recently? The Mike Tyson fight in Copenhagen, Denmark. My team arrived there 10 days before the fight and we were able to take in the local culture. The bout was held in the largest outdoor arena in the world. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my life.
What are you usually thinking about when you're caught daydreaming at your desk? I have numerous friends who attended West Point.
I still keep in touch with some of them, even though they are all in different parts of the world. I have become particularly concerned with their well-being recently, given the current instability around the globe.
Name one thing about you that none of your coworkers know? That I have been designing a clothing line and aspire to have my own fashion house one day.
Where do you see yourself in five years? Working as an event director at a premiere arena or stadium.
