LONDON: The UK healthcare PR industry boomed in 2001, with average growth of 33% across its top 50 healthcare PR agencies, according to PRWeek UK.

LONDON: The UK healthcare PR industry boomed in 2001, with average growth of 33% across its top 50 healthcare PR agencies, according to PRWeek UK.

The results, listed in PRWeek's Top 50 healthcare PR league tables, show a remarkably strong sector, and evidence that healthcare is resilient in a recession. The top ten healthcare firms had a total fee income of more than ?52m, compared with ?43m the previous year.

Ethical pharmaceuticals continued to provide the largest portion of income, accounting for more than ?42m in the top ten.

The tables continue to be dominated by specialist agencies, headed by Medical Action Communications. Burson-Marsteller was the top full-service agency.
