CHICAGO: OAG Worldwide, publisher of the Official Airline Guide, among other travel-related products, has picked integrated agency Slack Barshinger to handle PR and marketing for its operations in the Americas.
The agency expects its efforts will include a heavy amount of PR work, and to start the new assignment, will have one PR staffer on-site at OAG's suburban Chicago offices two days a week, said agency CEO Gary Slack.
"We initially need to help OAG to build stronger consumer awareness of the role that OAG products and services play for the business traveler," Slack said. He added that the account will be among his agency's largest PR assignments.
Charlene Seoane, publisher Americas for OAG, said the company had worked with Chicago agency HLB Communications for 10 years. However, OAG decided that it "needed a fresh eye, Seoane explained.
Slack Barshinger impressed the company because "they really listened.
They asked us a lot of questions, which is what other agencies hadn't done, Seoane added.
Slack's lack of travel-industry experience was also a plus, she said.
It meant the agency didn't have preconceptions about how to do travel-related work, she explained.
