BOSTON: In an attempt to gain investment-community visibility, Somanetics Corporation has retained Sharon Merrill Associates to handle its IR services. The medical-device company is the maker of Invos Cerebral Oximeter, a product that monitors changes in blood oxygen levels in the brain to help prevent neurological injury related to surgery, and CorRestore System, an implant used in cardiac repair and reconstruction for the treatment of congestive heart failure.
"All of our IR services were basically a one-man shop before, said Mary Ann Victor, VP of communications and administration for Somanetics.
Victor was solely responsible for handling all communications tasks prior to the appointment of Sharon Merrill Associates. "We needed extra arms and legs to put ourselves in front of a larger audience, and communicate our story to investors, she explained.
