When you're a client, it's gratifying to know that your account executive is going the extra mile for you, especially when she's alerting you to job opportunities, even when you aren't actively looking.
When my husband relocated from San Francisco to Los Angeles, I left a terrific position with Visa. I had managed PR programs focusing on the travel and retail industries and worked with two outside agencies there.
In LA, I embarked on my job search, not knowing a soul. Out of the blue, my star account exec from Visa called with a lead about Murphy O'Brien, a boutique agency specializing in travel accounts.
As luck would have it, we both ended up working for the agency. Today, I oversee the travel group at Murphy O'Brien, managing a stellar collection of clients that include the Pebble Beach Company, Auberge Resorts, La Quinta Resort & Club, and the Lodge at Torrey Pines.
And my former account executive turned coworker? She's now a client of Murphy O'Brien. Perhaps someday I'll return the favor.
