How long have you been working there? Four months.
Describe the physical space you work in. Surrounded by trendy boutiques and tasty new restaurants, Merlot Marketing is located in midtown Sacramento.
I have a great office with a view of my favorite clothing store across the street, perfect for lunchtime credit card aerobics. The best part of my office is my new computer, and the wallpaper on my desktop is a picture of my recent vacation to Hawaii.
Do you socialize with your colleagues outside of work? Yes. The other weekend we even went whitewater rafting. Somehow my boss never got wet, while the rest of us were soaked.
What is the best thing about working there? Every Friday is "Fun Friday, and we bring in our favorite bottle of merlot to open after work. Then the creative juices really start flowing.
And the worst thing? It used to be my long commute to and from work, but last week I moved four blocks away.
What was your luckiest break? Right after I started, I got to attend the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show in Chicago. I've never worked so hard, or played so hard, in my life. At Gino's East Pizzeria, where the walls are covered in writing, we had a blast plastering "Merlot Marketing" everywhere in Wite Out. Gino's is known for its delicious pizza, and not-so-speedy service. Fortunately, we learned that some extra client gift bags could easily charm the waiters into faster delivery. Of course, it probably helped that the bags contained little bottles of Skyy Vodka.
If you could do your job from any location, other than your current one, where would it be? On a laptop at the Cafe de Paris in Monte Carlo. I am obsessed with everything pertaining to Monaco. My local librarian probably thinks I am crazy since I check out the same Grace Kelly books over and over.
What is the biggest thing to hit your office in the past year? The satisfaction of getting our clients editorial coverage in magazines such as Robb Report and Metropolitan Home.
Sneak us a good piece of office gossip We sneak Hot Tamales out of the boss' candy jar every day when she isn't looking.
