Applied Communications has lost two people with connections to the firm's Hewlett-Packard account in the past month. As previously reported, former Applied SVP Tim Marklein has joined HP as its new director of corporate media relations. Joseph Paluska has also left Applied, where he served as VP of client services and worked on the HP, PayPal, and Genuity accounts.

He has gone to Hill & Knowlton to help increase the visibility of the tech practice in the Bay Area market and across the country.

David Weiskopf, another hi-tech PR pro with HP roots, has joined Ketchum's San Francisco office as associate director. He left Weber Shandwick Worldwide's San Mateo, CA office, where he was deputy GM and an HP account leader.

Also going to Ketchum is Ryan Donovan, as associate director of the global tech practice. Donovan, who will work in San Francisco, just left Text 100, where he was recently promoted to VP of North America, overseeing new business development. Text 100 will not replace Donovan, but is looking for a regional director for its North American business.
