How long have you been working there? Two months.
Describe the physical space you work in The company literally began out of the owner's garage, so the main conference room door is an actual, working garage door. Everything is open, very fresh, clean, graphic, and unique. Chrome, white, citrus green, and burnt rust are the accent colors, and the front lobby serves as an art gallery showcasing local talent.
Who is the funniest person you work with? Su-Rmi Givens, an account coordinator, is really funny. During happy hours, she always breaks out imitations of our bosses that are uncannily realistic. Her energy and passion brings excellent service to clients and creates a great work environment.
Who is the smartest? My boss, Laura Hall Knapp. She has the experience and savvy I hope to have one day. She has expertise and enough war stories to publish a book, while still being totally down to earth and fun. Her most interesting story is of the time she was doing an event with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. Long story short, Tigger was caught in an alley smoking a cigarette. So much for the pristine image.
What is the best thing about working there? I feel continually inspired by the creativity and drive in my coworkers, and feel lucky to be learning from some of the most experienced and fun people in the business.
And the worst thing? We only have one bathroom for a staff of more than 30 people. That's bad enough, but when you factor in the Arizona heat, and the fact you have to drink lots of liquids, you end up with a lot of three-deep bathroom lines.
What is the most exciting project you've worked on recently? We have a prominent Native American tribe and casino out of Southern California as a client. The complex and politically-loaded issues we often encounter have created unique and exciting PR challenges. Pitching breaking political stories is something new for me, but it has been very interesting, and has inspired me to step up my media relations skills.
What is one thing about you that none of your coworkers know?
I am the daughter of a minister.
