AMS hires H&K to rebuild its image in North America

WASHINGTON: American Management Systems (AMS), a $1.28 billion information-technology firm, has chosen Hill & Knowlton as its PR agency to beef up the company's reputation. Edelman Worldwide and Hill & Knowlton were chosen as finalists from a field of 15 agencies. Brodeur Worldwide was the incumbent firm.

WASHINGTON: American Management Systems (AMS), a $1.28 billion information-technology firm, has chosen Hill & Knowlton as its PR agency to beef up the company's reputation. Edelman Worldwide and Hill & Knowlton were chosen as finalists from a field of 15 agencies. Brodeur Worldwide was the incumbent firm.

AMS issued an RFP in June, calling for support of industry groups and corporate programs, as well as some corporate-level strategic counsel.

The corporation conceded that it had been passive about its image, and was looking for an agency to help it raise its profile. In addition, the firm is launching three new services. While AMS is an international firm, the one-year contract is for North American enterprises only. According to the RFP, fees are about $40,000 per month, with incentives to add revenue.

An AMS spokesman said H&K was chosen for its "energy and depth of knowledge."
