NEW YORK - Entertainment publicity veteran Patricia Kiel has landed the top communications job at NBC, having been named as its new head of corporate communications.
Kiel is currently SVP of communications for Sony Music Entertainment. She will take over her new duties in mid-September, reporting directly to Bob Wright, vice chairman of GE and NBC chairman and CEO.
Kiel is charged with handling the overall communications strategy for the network, along with overseeing communications departments at CNBC, MSNBC, and Telemundo.
She will also handle philanthropic activities and public affairs for NBC, including the award-winning PSA campaign "The More You Know."
"Patricia has a wealth of experience and an outstanding record of achievement as a communications strategist," said Wright. "She will play a valuable role at NBC as we continue to drive our growth as a leading global media company."
Before joining Sony, Kiel held top PR positions at Polygram Holding (1992-1995), Rolling Stone (1990-1992), and Susan Blond (1989-1990), where her clients included Virgin Records.
Kiel will be based in New York.
