NEW YORK: News Broadcast Network (NBN) and Collegiate Presswire (CP) have teamed up to form College Radio Wire Network.
Up and running as of September 1, the new network distributes NBN's text and audio news releases to subscribing college radio stations. Along with the script and mp3 file, the copy includes redirecting links within each story for radio personnel to access press releases and contact information.
"Moving into multimedia was a natural extension for us," said Matthew Farlie, cofounder of CP. "Rather than reinventing the wheel by learning how to produce ANRs, we found a partner that specializes in it."
Together, NBN and CP developed a distribution network of approximately 100 radio stations, including those at Columbia University, New York University, the University of Florida, and the University of Miami. Mike Hill, president of NBN, predicted that the number of stations will double by late fall of this year.
Looking beyond the current project, Farlie confided that extending CP's relationship with NBN into the realm of TV broadcast is a possibility for the future. "We want to be a true multimedia provider of content.
Now that we have entered print and radio, the third and next logical step would be getting into the television market," he said.
