How long have you been working there? Almost five years.
How did you end up in your job? I'd taken some time off to do a Marine conservation project in Tanzania, came back to earth (well, London) with a bump, a passion for fish, and a need to rejoin the rat race and get back into some challenging work. It was actually a media recruitment agency that suggested PR - based on my background, experience, and interests - and put me in touch with Lewis.
Describe the physical space you work in. Our Boston office, which I helped set up, is smaller than the London HQ (for now), but still set up in a kind of newsroom format.
Who is the funniest person you work with? Why? Steve, our GM, has been described at various times as "mad as a box of frogs." He actually came to one of our international meetings with a pocket full of plastic frogs that he gave out while shaking peoples' hands. He's also a mean break dancer - which is pretty funny to see.
What is the best thing about working there? The company believes in rewarding hard work and results. Depending on level or longevity that might be gym membership, a mobile phone, or a company car. But the best part has to be the free donuts.
If you could change one thing about your job, what would it be? Get the rest of the world to speak the Queen's English. It's nice to stand out, but it's kind of spooky when people tell me they listened to a voice-mail three times just to hear my accent.
What is the biggest thing to hit your office in the past year? Opening in Sydney, Australia. It gives our US clients a gateway into Asia-Pacific, without having to find a separate agency and all the contract, retraining, and communication hassles that go with that. Plus, it's always fun to get our Australian GM on a video conference call with a new business prospect at 6am in his shirt and tie, knowing that he has his pajamas on under the table.
What is one thing about you that none of your co-workers know? That I'm running a marathon. Having seen me on the soccer field, they'd probably gasp at the thought of me going two miles, let alone 26.
