After serving as a researcher for Geraldo Rivera's daytime talk show, I was offered a better job at King World as a story coordinator for both Inside Edition and the now defunct American Journal. I was living my dream, working behind the scenes of national TV.
One day while producing a segment on a best-selling new paperback, I was impressed with the help I was receiving from the publicist. I'd never taken a class on PR. I was likely asleep when they covered it in my other college communication courses. I just felt this person was helpful.
I tired of New York, and took a look at The Golf Channel in Orlando.
However, I needed a part-time job, and got my big break when I was introduced to Tom Madden, a.k.a. The Spin Man, TransMedia Group owner.
I knew PR wasn't the career for me. I was thinking strictly part-time.
Before I knew it, the Spin Man spun me, and I was hired as a full-time AE. I learned on the job, and fell in love with its creative aspects.
After six years with TransMedia, I've become a top publicist, turned 30, met my wife (shared an office with her for three years), and wouldn't consider any other field.
