Last Call congratulates Hill & Knowlton lifer and crisis comms guru Dick Hyde, who took up agency life in 1962, when "The Locomotion" was climbing the charts, JFK was sweating over the Bay of Pigs, John Glenn was in orbit, and To Kill a Mocking Bird was in its first printing.
That makes it 40 years - quite a while to spend with one company in any profession, and several lifetimes in agency land.
Highlights of Hyde's tenure include handling the Union Carbide Bhopal crisis, Three Mile Island, and the International Olympic Committee's bidding scandal, not to mention introducing the cast of Oh, Calcutta! to powder Gatorade.
So happy anniversary, then, to Hyde and H&K.
