CAMBRIDGE, MA: Weber Shandwick Worldwide has lured Boston Globe business editor Peter Mancusi across the Charles River to be SVP of corporate practice in its New England office, based in Cambridge.

Micho Spring, chairwoman of WSW's New England operations, said that she approached Mancusi because of increased client demand for corporate services.

"We did not create the position for Peter," she said, "but he more than met the qualifications. Peter has a unique understanding of business in Massachusetts."

Mancusi, who was responsible for the launch of the Globe's technology and biotech sections, has been business editor since 1998, after holding a variety of reporting and editing jobs at the paper. He is also an attorney who worked as a litigator concentrating in media law at Bingham Dana.

The appointment will take effect in late November.
