NEW YORK: Hill & Knowlton has filled its vacant GM slot for its New York office with Marilyn Castaldi, chair of Fleishman-Hillard's healthcare practice.

NEW YORK: Hill & Knowlton has filled its vacant GM slot for its New York office with Marilyn Castaldi, chair of Fleishman-Hillard's healthcare practice.

The position had been empty since June, when Phil Sheldon left H&K, shortly before becoming MD at Lippe Taylor. Diane Perry, head of H&K's corporate practice, has been covering the position in the interim.

Castaldi will join on December 1, and will report directly to MaryLee Sachs, president and CEO of H&K's US operations.

Back at Fleishman, Michael Rinaldo, director of the agency's New York healthcare group, has been promoted to co-chair of the global practice.

He will share responsibilities with John McAnulty, who had already been co-chairing the practice with Castaldi.

Citing her extensive background in healthcare, Castaldi said, "Because specializing in healthcare requires working across so many disciplines, it equips you with a good base for eventually going into other areas." She also noted that the constantly changing nature of the healthcare industry has prepared her for a role that centers largely on people management and staff development.

Castaldi's first agency job was at H&K's LA office in the early '80s.

"It's not an unknown entity to me, but a whole new generation of leadership at H&K has created a new environment," explained Castaldi. "I am very excited to be a part of that."
