UDate taps Stanton Crenshaw to grow presence in the US

NEW YORK: Stanton Crenshaw Communications has been selected by uDate.com, a London-based online dating service, to handle consumer marketing and corporate communications in the US.

NEW YORK: Stanton Crenshaw Communications has been selected by uDate.com, a London-based online dating service, to handle consumer marketing and corporate communications in the US.

The "high six-figure" account, according to Toby Rowland, VP of global communications for uDate, is indefinite. He said Stanton Crenshaw will focus primarily on growing the company's public profile in the US, separate from what he feels is already an established online presence.

Noting that 76% of uDate's business comes from the US, Rowland explained, "We have been powerful with the online community here, but now we are looking to emerge beyond that with a distinct voice."

In 2000, uDate ended its existing relationship with Stanton Crenshaw when it decided to focus on its UK operations. In the interim, uDate worked on a project basis with Hill & Knowlton on US strategy issues. With a renewed interest, uDate opted to go with the returning agency. It also heard pitches from Euro RSCG Middleberg, Magnet Communications, Lippe Taylor, and Bratskeir & Company.
