SAN MATEO, CA: Under new media relations VP Patrick Dillon, Siebel Systems has just issued its first RFP in four years to more than a dozen PR firms.
The RFP is part of the "life cycle" of Siebel's relationships with outside firms, and "as good business practice dictates, allows us to look at the agencies that are out there," said Dillon. "We're not just reviewing agencies, but reevaluating our needs. It's an ongoing process."
Access Communications has been Siebel's AOR in the US for the past four years. Dillon declined to say which firms received the RFP, how long the review will take, or the size of the PR budget.
Dillon joined Siebel in November, just weeks after the closure of Forbes ASAP, where he was editor. He was also content director at Quokka Sports, the defunct online sports website, as well as one of the first writers at Fast Company, and an editor at the San Jose Mercury News.
"I've been covering dynamic business cycles for 20 years," said Dillon. "This is a dynamic, smart, customer-oriented company."
