LOS ANGELES: Entertainment Tonight, the number-one syndicated entertainment newsmagazine, has launched at 24-7 desktop newswire targeting consumers who need to know the latest celebrity happenings.
"If ET airs at 7pm in your market and we get the story at 11am, we can put it on the player immediately, and you can have it before it even hits the AP wire," said ET director of media relations Kim Wilder-Lee.
Called instantET, the program was launched nationally this week, and can be downloaded at the ET website. Once installed, it displays the ET logo in the corner of the screen. When news becomes available, the logo flashes. Double-clicking on it launches the player, which has a ticker-style display of headlines, as well as audio and video. Each player is branded with the local affiliate's information.
While the information on the wire will be similar to the show's offerings, it will also have extended coverage from events such as the Academy Awards.
"It's just another way to get more coverage to your client," said Wilder-Lee.
