SANTA MONICA: Six-year-old Santa Monica-based RayGun Publishing is about to appoint a launch editor for its new women's lifestyle mag, Nylon.
The title, due to launch on March 18th next year, was conceived by model Helena Christensen and RayGun publisher Marvin Scott Jarrett, and is the third magazine to be launched by the independent publishing house.
The group is understood to be aiming for a guaranteed distribution figure of around 130,000, in line with its two other titles: RayGun, a music and style magazine and men's title Bikini.
Publisher Marvin Scott Jarrett has been in New York this week, targeting major advertisers with the new title aimed at women in their 20s. Already signed up are clothing companies Guess and Polo. Subject matter will include travel, film, music, and beauty.
Christensen also interviews actor Tim Robbins for the promotional dummy.
Christensen says Nylon is 'not just another slick fashion rag, but an engaging publication that reflects a deep curiosity about life in general.'
Jaclynn Jarrett, executive publisher, said the magazine will be staffed from January. 'The response has been great,' she said. 'The timing is right to hit everybody for advertising.'.
