WASHINGTON DC: Eisner Petrou and Associates, a 13 year old public relations firm with offices in Washington DC and Baltimore, is shopping for another agency.
'We're actively pounding the pavement,' said president David Petrou, of the exploration. 'It's a top priority.'
Petrou said that he and his partner, Steven Eisner, head of Baltimore-based Eisner and Associates, focused on buying a shop about two-and-a-half years ago, but efforts were unsuccessful. The search 'got really serious this year,' but discussions with three firms 'have not lead to an acquisition,' said Petrou. He declined to reveal the names of the firms, but added that one firm was still under consideration.
'We're not interested in a merger ... we're interested in an acquisition,' Petrou stated. His 17-person firm bills $2.5 million a year and it's shopping for a firm its size or less, preferably in the Washington DC or Baltimore area.
'What we are acquiring is talent,' said Petrou. 'Many of my colleagues go wrong by over expanding. You must build your niche and so you need the right fit,' he said.
The firm currently focuses on healthcare marketing, travel and tourism, and consumer product.
