CAMBRIDGE, MA: MediaMap and Bacon's Information last week announced the launch of ww.EdCals.com, a web site allowing subscribers to access the editorial calendars of more than 54,000 US publications.
By linking web search technology to research compiled by Bacon's and MediaMap, EdCals.com provides detailed information on publicity opportunities, as well as contact information and publication descriptions.
The concept was simple, according to MediaMap VP of business development Peter Granat. 'We wanted to be the Yahoo! of editorial calendars.'
Granat said industry feedback has been positive. 'The site has been live for three days, and 400 people have signed up for the free trial.
'Editorial calendars are essential to PR pros,' he said. 'If you miss a story and your competition is in there, it can be career breaking.'
Paid subscribers get access to a year's worth of stories, but immediate stories are available for free.
