FORT WORTH: Tandy has hired away a Zale executive to lead its newly reorganized PR staff.
Laura Moore is the new VP of PR and corporate communications. She is the last member of a senior management team Tandy president Leonard Roberts has been assembling in recent months. Roberts will add CEO to his job title on January 1 when John B. Roach retires from that position. Roach will remain chairman of Tandy's board.
Tandy's new organization brings together several functions previously supervised by different divisions of the company, said Ron Trumbla, media relations manager for Tandy and Radio Shack. Moore will oversee PR, corporate communications and related support services, corporate citizenship, and industry/government affairs.
The previous VP of corporate communications, Lou Ann Blaylock, oversaw some PR functions, including media relations. She is now VP of facilities and corporate programs, which will have her leasing space in Tandy's Fort Worth office properties, and managing the Radio Shack/Tandy Scholars program.
No additional positions have been added or deleted, Trumbla said. He doesn't foresee any immediate changes to the company's policy of using outside PR firms on a limited project-by-project basis.
'Any changes here in the future will be her call,' Trumbla said.
Before joining Zale in 1993, Moore had worked for Fidelity Investments, the Texas Department of Transportation, and Dallas County schools.
