SMITHFIELD, RI: Sunglasses maker Foster Grant has tapped Alan Taylor Communications to handle its six figure PR account - and landed uber-model Cindy Crawford as its global spokeswoman. Taylor executive Mark Beal said Foster Grant was 'a brand in the '70s that wants to contemporize.' FG president of marketing Bill Potts agreed, saying he had tapped Taylor for its history of building awareness of established brands. Cindy Crawford's role starts in the new year. FG will celebrate its 70th anniversary in 1999 and wants her to help resuscitate its old 'Who's that behind those Foster Grants?' tagline.
