AUSTIN: The Weber Group has set up shop in hi-tech hotbed Austin, tapping former Fleishman-Hillard VP Andrew Craig to lead the new office.

The agency will focus exclusively on hi-tech, building on relationships with existing clients Trilogy and PC Order. Weber joins competitors such as Lois Paul & Partners and Cunningham Communications, who have already established an Austin presence.

Ranked number one in Fortune's 'Best Cities for Business,' Austin has grown its software community from 177 firms in 1989 to more than 600 by the end of 1997, and is also a hot growth area for computers and semiconductors.

'This is a tremendous opportunity to get in on the ground floor and build something in a hot market like Austin,' said Craig. While he added that it's too soon to discuss projections for the new office, he is currently working with one mid-level employee.
