NEW YORK: Book publisher Random House is merging the PR operations of its Bantam and Dell/Delacorte imprints and is losing a senior member of its publicity staff as part of the reorganization.

Carisa Hays, VP and director of publicity, is departing along with other senior publishing executives, including D/D editor-in-chief Leslie Schnur.

Hays was due to leave by the end of the week. One of her last projects was Hannibal, the highly anticipated sequel to The Silence of the Lambs.

Hannibal received a tremendous amount of publicity upon its release last month, including a front-page slot in Entertainment Weekly.

Random House will rename the company Bantam Dell Publishing Group and has handed Barb Burg, VP of publicity, responsibility for the two merged PR departments.
