Real estate firms hire inside IR pros

LOS ANGELES AND BOSTON: Real estate development companies CB Richard Ellis (CBRE) and Boston Properties (BP) have strengthened their investor relations operations by appointing internal IR directors.

California real estate firm CBRE has named former bank PR pro Jeffrey Misakian as its first in-house IR rep, while BP tapped Elaine Quinlan as director of IR.

As vice president of IR, Misakian's responsibilities will include communicating the company's financials as well as business and strategic objectives to analysts, shareholders and the investment community. Misakian was previously SVP and director of corporate and investor relations for Golden State Bancorp.

Meanwhile, the Financial Relations Board, which has been providing IR services for CBRE since 1997, will continue in that role.

In Boston, BP has given Quinlan much leeway over its external communications.

In addition to her IR responsibilities, she will oversee the firm's PR and MR operations. 'We have seen the need for an internal IR person to better serve our shareholders and the investment community,' said BP's CFO David Gaw.

Quinlan was manager of IR at Meditrust for four years.
