MIAMI: Fleishman-Hillard and travel and lifestyle marketing communications specialist KWE Associates were chosen last week to lead a comprehensive year-long international PR program to promote tourism in Mexico City.
The program will consist of media relations, special events management, and travel industry relations. F-H and KWE have been charged with highlighting several prominent attractions, including museums, centuries-old historical sites, and religious and sporting centers.
F-H, which promoted Mexico as a tourist destination in the early 1990s, will serve as the AOR and will manage the account from its Miami office. F-H's partnership with the Miami outpost of New York-based KWE will add further depth and experience to the account team.
Fondo Mixto para la Promocion Turistica de la Ciudad de Mexico, the organization responsible for managing the promotion of Mexico City, is a public-private sector initiative made up of officials from city government, the federal government tourism ministry, the hospitality industry, the restaurant association, and other service providers.
'We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity of putting our international PR resources to work on behalf of Mexico City and to work in partnership with KWE,' said Richard Sullivan, president of F-H International.
KWE president Karen Weiner Escalera was equally upbeat. 'The combination of KWE's tourism expertise and F-H's global resources bring to Mexico City the best resources in reaching the worldwide traveler,' she said.
'We are excited and honored to have been chosen to promote this magnificent city to the discerning traveler.'
