AUSTIN, TX: Springbok Technologies has named Melinda Hart and Bernard Walker VPs. A six-year veteran of the firm, Hart launched Springbok's Austin office two years ago and moves to the firm's Dallas headquarters. Walker, who formerly worked on Sprint and Motorola accounts at Cunningham Communications, will assume Hart's position in the Austin office. Springbok also named Suzanne Bautch account supervisor and Lisa Lawrence senior AE.
MADRID: IPREX named its new officers at its annual summer meeting last week. Mike Swenson of Barkley Evergreen & Partners will serve as president for the next two years, and will be joined by the following officers: secretary Cathleen Johnson, treasurer David Watson, associate treasurer Bob Oltmanns and membership chair Robert Weintraub. IPREX also welcomed three new members: Walsh Public Relations (Dublin), Pilgrim Oy (Helsinki), and Praxis Public Relations Limited (Auckland).

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ: The CJ Foundation for Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) has chosen the MWW Group as its PR agency. MWW Group will help raise national awareness of the steps needed to reduce the risk of SIDS.

SAN DIEGO: The Townsend Agency has named former US Web/CKS partner Bernard Schroeder to the newly created post of GM. Prior to joining Townsend, Schroeder spent nearly six years with US Web/CKS. In 1994, he helped open the firm's Portland office, where his team was responsible for Amazon.com's initial launch.
NEW YORK: Randy Mastro, chairman of the mayor's charter revision commission, has tapped Colleen Roche to handle press relations for the panel on a pro bono basis. Roche, former press secretary to New York mayor Rudy Giuliani, now works for Linden Alschuler & Kaplan as an executive VP.
PONTIAC, MI: Kathryn McBride has been named director of communications for the General Motors Truck Group. She had held the same position for the GM Powertrain Group since August 1993 and has worked with GM in various PR capacities since 1983. McBride succeeds Kathleen Tanner, who was recently appointed director of news relations for GM.
