PALO ALTO, CA: Corsair Communications, a provider of software and systems for the wireless industry, has tapped hi-tech veteran Howard Green as its director of corporate communications.

Previously the corporate communications director for motherboard supplier Cell Computing, Green replaces Bill Taliaferro, who has moved to the San Francisco office of TSI Communications.

In his new post, Green has been charged with overseeing all of the company's PR, investor relations, corporate communications, trade shows and advertising. He will report to VP of sales, marketing and operations Dave Thompson.

Green said that Corsair will continue its relationship with its existing PR agency of record, the San Diego-based McQuerter Group. Palo Alto's Stapleton Communications will continue to handle the company's IR.

Green declined to estimate the percentage of the marketing budget that will go toward PR, but said it would 'definitely be an very crucial part of the marketing mix, especially on the global level.' He singled out Brazil, which he called a 'hot market for wireless,' as a likely area of focus.

Most of Green's efforts will center around support for the company's two leading products: PhonePrint, a wireless fraud protection system, and PrePay, a prepaid billing network.

Prior to Green's tenure at Cell Computing, he served as director of corporate communications for MicroModule Systems, a Digital spin-off.
