HOUSTON: Add another agency to the burgeoning Austin PR landscape.
Vollmer Public Relations announced last week that it will be opening a branch ? its third in Texas ? in the state capital. The agency plans to move a six-person staff, which will be lead by Vollmer veteran Judy Haveson, to Austin in October. New hires have already been recruited and are being trained, said spokeswoman Renee Catacalos.
The Austin branch will consolidate Vollmer's interactive marketing efforts for e-commerce and Internet clients like Travelocity.com and EventSource.com.
Agency president Helen Vollmer stressed in the expansion announcement that the firm has little problem handling hi-tech work in its Houston office. She said, however, that the Austin office will put the agency in closer proximity to its clients.
'We all know that with technology, we can do the work from anywhere,' Vollmer said. 'But the networking and people side of public relations is still the foundation of our business.'
