LONDON: Fast-growing men’s glossy magazine Maxim has appointed Talk

Loud PR to handle its media relations in the UK. The deal will begin

with the September issue.

Talk Loud won the business following a five-way pitch against Peter

Noble PR, Soho PR, The Wright Partnership, The Braben Company and the

magazine’s incumbent agency, Joe Public Relations.

Liz Coles, market manager for the consumer lifestyle division at Maxim’s

parent company Dennis Publishing, said Talk Loud will attend to both

consumer and trade media. ’It’s just as important to be mentioned in the

trade press and achieve a level of coverage commensurate with Maxim’s

growth,’ she said.

Talk Loud has placed a team of four pros on the account, headed by

Michelle Norman. It will, in effect, run a press office for the

magazine. ’Our tasks will include promoting each issue,’ said Norman.

’We’ll also develop the brand’s profile, which could include events or

sponsorships.’

Launched in 1995, Maxim ranked third in the most recent ABC audit of UK

men’s magazines, with 321,947 readers, behind FHM (751,493) and Loaded

(457,318). Maxim, however, is the fastest-growing publication, with

year-on-year sales up 29%.
