PHILADELPHIA: The city of Philadelphia last week tapped Portfolio Associates for a dollars 100,000 recycling account.
The agency was hired to oversee the city's communication recycling program, an education effort directed at the city's 6,111 employees in 220 municipal offices.
The city sent out the original RFP for the project on May 7 and held a pre-bid meeting on May 19 to assess the competing agencies' ideas on how to carry out the employee recycling communication program.
'They liked the way we thought and some of the ideas we threw out,' said Portfolio account executive Mark Heil. 'We elaborated on how to motivate employees and get them to put their support behind the program.'
The effort stems from an edict issued by Philadelphia mayor Ed Rendell last year, which mandated all city offices to participate in recycling.
