NEW YORK: The US Postal Service has lost another of its

communication pros.

McGraw-Hill Companies has hired away Mark Weinberg to serve as issues

management director in its corporate communications department.

Weinberg, manager of marketing communications and special events for the

US Postal Service for the last five years, will be responsible for

speechwriting, preparation of op-ed pieces and strategic

communications.

He will report to Steven Weiss, McGraw-Hill’s senior director of

corporate communications.

Following Weinberg’s departure, the postal service has restructured its

communications operations, eliminating his position. His leaving came on

the heels of postal service VP of corporate relations Frank Brennan Jr.

abandoning his post to take another role within the postal service.

Larry Speakes, the former senior VP of corporate relations, has become

an aide to Postmaster General William Henderson.

Prior to his postal service tenure, Weinberg served as director of PR

for Revco, a pharmaceutical company Revco. From 1989 to 1991, he served

as President Reagan’s assistant press secretary.

Weinberg’s hiring at McGraw-Hill came before the company announced plans

to integrate two of its online businesses, Business Week Online and S&P

Personal Wealth, into a single site.
