PR gaffe category?

While on a ’listening’ tour of New York - an early volley in her

I-haven’t-said-I’m-running-yet Senate campaign - Hillary appeared at an

anti-violence forum. One of the panelists was Alice McEnaney, whose son

Jason was shot five years ago in a hostage standoff at the State

University of New York/Albany.

Discussing the incident, Hillary turned to McEnaney and said, ’You’ve

really spent a lot of time in the years since your son’s murder ...’

McEnaney cut her off by saying, ’My son is alive,’ and gestured to the

front row of the audience, where Jason was sitting. TV cameras caught

the exchange and it received heavy play in the state.

Perhaps Hillary should stay in DC, Arkansas or wherever else she decides

to call home: following the tour, she saw her 11-point lead in the polls

shrink to a six-point deficit.
