LOS ANGELES: Rogers & Associates has tabbed John Sonego as a management supervisor. A 12-year PR veteran, Sonego will oversee several of the firm’s consumer and hi-tech accounts. Prior to arriving at Rogers, Sonego worked on the DuPont Automotive account at Michigan’s Eisbrenner Public Relations and served as director of marketing and PR at the Detroit Historical Society and Detroit Historical Museums.

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MI: PR agencies AutoCom Associates and Macdonald

Communications announced plans to merge this fall. The move will create

a new agency with billings of roughly dollars 1 million, 12 staffers and

offices in Bloomfield Hills and Ann Arbor. The merged firm, McDonald,

Weis & Associates, will focus on hi-tech and auto-related business.



PARSIPPANY, NJ: CommonHealth, a health communications resource that

includes PR and marketing arms, has named Daniel Teper to the position

of EVP/group company director, global services. Teper, formerly

president of Euro RSCG Worldwide’s European healthcare group, has been

charged with leading several of CommonHealth’s most important

relationships, including those with AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson and

Pharmacia & Upjohn.



NEW YORK: Cohn & Wolfe has ramped up its Internet division with business

from LiveUniverse.com, a web-building site and Pacific Internet, an

Asian ISP and the-teleport, an IP telephony provider.



PALO ALTO, CA: The Weber Group has named Marc Bien SVP. He was

previously a director in Burson-Marsteller’s Los Angeles office, where

he served as global account leader for Qualcomm. He has also served

stints at Fleishman-Hillard and BSMG. Burson technology chair Bill Fasig

said managing director John Beale will assume leadership of the Qualcomm

account.



WATERTOWN, MA: Sterling Hager has won nine hi-tech account clients, with

annual fees totaling just under dollars 2 million: Bitstream

Incorporated, the Israeli-based Expand Networks, Framework Technologies,

Pegasystems, Transcept, StartupNetworks.com, EPiCON, TechOnLine and

TREEV.



NEW YORK: The National Football League has promoted two staff in its

communications department. Brian McCarthy becomes senior corporate

communications manager, while Vince Casey moves up to senior editorial

manager. The league has jointly launched a new magazine, NFL Insider,

with Peterson Publishing. The launch is being handled by The Susan

Magrino Agency and Alan Taylor Communications.



WASHINGTON, DC: Netivation.com has tabbed Hill & Knowlton as its agency

of record. The company has charged H&K with raising its awareness among

primary-care physicians and political candidates.



NEW YORK: Ketchum has promoted Graham Hueber to VP/director of its

national research and measurement department. The agency has also

started a search for a new SVP of research, who will be responsible for

its global research operations.
