PHILADELPHIA: Financial giant Delaware Investments has plugged a

longstanding gap in its PR staff by hiring Tom Gariepy to head corporate

communications.

Gariepy, who was named vice president and director of corporate

communications, replaces Linda Finnerty, the company’s former

communications director, who departed several months ago. He will be

responsible for coordinating the company’s internal and external

communications.

The 1,100 employee, dollars 48 million asset management firm, which has

traditionally maintained a low public profile, is making a concerted

push to raise awareness of the company within the Philadelphia area and

financial communities.

’We aren’t trying to do anything more than bring the strengths of this

company to the investing public,’ Gariepy said. ’But, of course, it’s

never as simple as it sounds.’

Prior to joining Delaware Investments, Gariepy served as director of PR

for The Liberty Funds Group from 1996 to 1999. Before that, he was a

shareholder report writer with Eaton Vance Management.

From 1991 to 1995, he managed communications for Phoenix Home Mutual

Life Insurance.
