adding Mitchell Karig to oversee communications for its capital markets
The financial printing, data and content supplier named Karig external
communications manager. He will report to director of communications
Judy Poole, and be responsible for establishing and managing the unit’s
Karig’s hire is significant in that it represents the first
management-level hire for the firm since it appointed the former NYSE
managing director of communications Poole to oversee the launch of its
communications department last February. The company established the
department to strengthen its worldwide brand awareness and differentiate
itself from similar providers of financial information.
Donnelley’s capital markets division prepares documentation for IPOs,
mergers and acquisitions and other financial transactions. It is one of
three business units within the company; other divisions include
investor and healthcare communications.
Poole said industry trends, such as changes in securities regulations,
have created a greater need for communication between the company and
its clients. ’The industry is constantly in flux,’ she said. ’It became
very apparent that we weren’t paying enough attention to communicating
with our various audiences.’ To this end, the company is looking to

Prior to his arrival at Donnelley, Karig served as assistant VP of
corporate communications at MBIA Insurance. From 1992 to 1995, he was
assistant VP of investor relations and corporate communications at
Enhance Financial Services Group.
