DIARY: Questions & Answers - Todd Andrlik

So we’re sifting through the usual batch of Q&A candidates when we read a pitch that begins, ’Have you ever thought of putting not-so-prominent PR people in this section? I strongly believe that successful practitioners would enjoy reading about future PR success cases.’ Hence we were sucked into the world of Todd Andrlik, president of the PRSSA at Illinois State University. Little did we know that he’d use this forum to shill for a job. Hey, give him points for chutzpah.

Who the heck are you? I’m a student in my final year at Illinois State

University, where I keep extremely busy as president of the PRSSA,

teaching assistant for ISU’s PR writing and production course, PR

director/performer for the Improv Mafia comedy troupe and PR intern

coordinator for ISU’s Communication Week.

Why did you choose PR? I can shine just by being myself in the PR

field.

I was born to communicate, write and present. I thrive on how I can

impact a situation, and that’s what PR is all about.

What will be the next big thing to hit the PR world? ME! When I graduate

in May, I’m going to rock the PR world. I hope I don’t sound too

big-headed when I say this, but I redefined PRSSA at ISU with new ideas

and a spirited attitude.

What is the best invention of all time? Those little plastic things at

the end of shoelaces.

What is your best habit? I put on deodorant every morning.

What is your favorite web site? My own! Czech it out:

http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Marina/5997

What do you love the most in life? Waking up and realizing that I have

two more hours to sleep before the alarm goes off.

Who do you most look like? I have been told Val Kilmer, the kid from

Jerry Maguire, Corey Haim, a white Will Smith, my dad and the

Encyclopedia Britannica commercial kid from a couple years back.

Name one thing about your past that people would be surprised to learn.

I was my high school mascot, Bernie the Bison!

What was your most embarrassing moment? I was the first student to ever

say the morning announcements over the intercom at my high school. When

it came time to say the Pledge of Allegiance to all 2,000 students, I

messed up big-time! I was adding lines and forgetting others.

If you could say one thing to all the PR professionals reading this,

what would it be?

First, drink milk - it does a body good, unless you’re lactose

intolerant.

Second, hire me! I will travel anywhere for the right PR job. You won’t

regret it!
