has awarded lucrative regional PR contracts to BSMG and Golin/Harris,

Last week, UDV’s Chicago-based central region announced the selection of
G/H as its agency of record, a decision that came shortly after the
southwest division chose BSMG.
BSMG and Fleishman-Hillard made the top-three short list in both

minute after discovering a potential conflict with an existing client.
In both regions, more than 10 firms initially vied for the business.
The central region’s choice of Chicago-based G/H stemmed from a desire

’We’re very happy with what Cairns is doing,’ Van Riper said. ’But we
want to evaluate results first.’

However, Cairns called UDV ’a dollars 1 million-plus client’ in a July
press release announcing that the agency would promote six additional
brands for the company.
UDV, the world’s largest wine and spirits company, was formed last year
following the merger of Guiness PLC and Grand Metropolitan, both based
in London. The new conglomerate, Diageo PLC, decentralized its combined
North American wine and spirits business into five regions. Among the
company’s brands are Jose Cuervo Tequila and Baileys Original Irish
