CHICAGO: Acknowledging the increasing importance of workplace

communications, Golin/Harris International has created its first-ever

unit specifically designed to improve clients’ relations with their

employees.

The agency’s new employee communications group will seek to provide

counsel for a wide range of issues affecting employees, including labor

relations, change-management programs and mergers and acquisitions. The

unit will be led by S. Keith Burton, a G/H executive VP who is also GM

of the firm’s Chicago office.

Burton said the group’s goal is to increase productivity through more

effective internal communication. ’Given the changing nature of the

American workforce, it’s more important than ever that employers

understand the value of communicating candidly and clearly with their

employees,’ he said.

Among the industries the group will likely target are manufacturing,

automotive and trucking, all of which have seen more than their share of

labor unrest and other employee/management crises.

To manage the daily operations of the group, G/H has lured Bernard

Charland from Hill & Knowlton’s Chicago office.
