SAN JOSE: Lending further credence to the theory that Silicon Valley PR pros have achieved the status of rainmakers in the Internet industry, net-Sanity has appointed Miller/Shandwick Technologies chair Frederick Hoar to its board of directors.
A hot start-up that recently received backing from two of the leading Valley VC firms, netSanity has already scored press in several of the industry trades and local papers - even while releasing little information about its actual products and services. According to the web site, netSanity will provide technology that enables consumers to target and personalize Internet content and e-commerce.
Hoar, one of the best known hi-tech PR pioneers, has spent more than 35 years in the industry, working with such established names as Apple and RCA.
Hoar said he was impressed by 'the strength of netSanity's management team' and 'the quality of the growing netSanity staff' who hail from companies such as 3Com and Microsoft.
According to director of marketing Sylvie Stefant, netSanity has yet to hire a full-service PR firm and won't do so until the company is closer to the launch date for its first product, which is expected later this year. While Hoar's presence would seem to make M/S a leading candidate for the PR business, Stefant dismissed such speculation as premature.
