IRVINE, CA: Electronic Media Communications has debuted

tourandtravelnews.com, a site which the company bills as the first

Internet-based travel news distribution service.

The site, which opened for business on August 16 and recorded 1800 hits

within its first four hours, allows travel and tourism PR pros to get

their clients before a wider audience, according to EMC.

The site has a distinct advantage over other wire services, such as

Business Wire or PRNewswire, claimed company president and CEO Patrick

Pharris, in that it is tightly focused on a single industry. ’We can

provide a level of concentration that none of the other sites can,’ he

said.

The site is broken down into 16 categories, including hotels and

resorts, airlines, casinos, cruise liners and travel agencies. It is

also interactive, as clients are given analysis of how their information

was used and are asked to contribute their own information.

EMC boasts a database of 5,000 travel reporters and 1,100 travel

agencies, and sends out e-mail notification of stories to users

requesting it.

Among the tourist venues that have already registered information with

tourandtravelnews.com are the San Diego Zoo and Paramount’s Kings

Island.

Other launch clients are Wolfgang Puck Restaurants and Harrah’s New

Orleans.

The price of a single-page press release starts from dollars 795 for one

month.

Other material such as pictures and audio/video feeds can also be sent.
