SEATTLE: Looking to add a PR shop to its holdings, ad agency Creative Works has hooked Fisher Business Communications (FBC), a $1 million hi-tech practice based in Orange County, CA.
The new entity, FBC/Creative Works, will remain in Irvine, CA, where FBC founder and president Robert Fisher will serve as executive vice president. FBC had been on the block for some time, but Fisher said he didn't get many bites from major PR players.
Fisher was also enticed by the prospect of aligning with a firm outside the PR mainstream. 'I wanted to be part of a larger organization with more services,' he said. 'You can put a bigger hook on your line, or get into a bigger boat and fish from their boat.'
Creative Works, which billed $2.5 million last year, had been shopping for a PR firm for about 18 months, according to CEO Ron Wilbur. 'We offer integrated communications, but we had no dedicated PR staff and hadn't addressed that as part of our mix.'
Founded in 1983, Seattle-based Creative Works counts Microsoft, USWest and Hewlett-Packard among its clients. 'FBC is a real boost for both of our areas, and adds to the suite of services that we can credibly offer,' Wilbur said.
The two principals expect to generate around dollars 6 million this year from the combined operations. Founded in 1985, FBC specializes in PC and peripheral companies.
