While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the merger is not likely to

have been a costly one for Weber/RBB, with Becker boasting only four

employees. The combined agency now has 54 employees and 45 clients.

Becker president Jeanne Becker becomes EVP of Weber/RBB and will manage

Weber’s DotCom division, whose clients include World Commerce Online,

iTrainer. com and Singles Online. The DotCom division will also work

with all the groups within the firm to provide interactive PR

counsel.

’Our DotCom division is growing and Jeanne has a strong competency in

the dot-coms,’ said Weber/RBB president Christine Barney. ’We were also

in a position where we felt it was appropriate to add someone at the

senior-management level.’

Before formalizing the arrangement, Weber/RBB and Becker had been

working together over the past three months. According to Barney,

Weber/RBB gained an additional dollars 1 million in income during that

time, and expects to grow another dollars 1 to dollars 3 million in the

next year, primarily due to the DotCom division.

While Becker staffers have moved into Weber/RBB’s space, the Becker

Consulting name is not expected to disappear for another six to seven

months.

Becker Consulting Services, founded in 1984, specialized in PR and

business plan development for the banking/financial, hi-tech and

healthcare sectors.

While BCS would not disclose 1998 income, Barney said Weber/RBB had 1998

income of dollars 3.9 million.
