to the board of Internet sporting goods retailer WorldWideSports.com,

which is counting on the impact of his knowledge and reputation in the

Internet space.

Weber is the latest in a series of hi-tech PR pros invited to sit among

’C-level’ execs at the boardroom table - and the trend isn’t likely to

stop any time soon. As pros like Weber earn a reputation as web

visionaries, they have become coveted board members for many Internet

companies. Earlier this month, netSanity appointed Miller/Shandwick

Technologies chair Fred Hoar to its board (PRWeek, Sept. 1).

’Larry’s experience is invaluable to us,’ said WorldWideSports.com COO

Paul Boulanger. ’He’s also very well-connected, which will help us

secure funding.’

While WorldWideSports.

com currently relies on one in-house PR staffer and an outside

consultant, Boulanger said Weber will help the company select a PR firm,

which may or may not be The Weber Group.

Weber also sits on the boards of tech companies General Interactive,

Software wow.com, Curl and RealityWave.
