NEW YORK: Conceding that their two-year marriage was not working,

The Kamber Group last week sold The PR Consulting Group (PRCG) back to

former owner James Haggerty.

Haggerty expected the original sale of PRCG to Kamber in 1997 would

provide increased access to resources and higher-level clients, but

client conflicts and the size of Kamber’s programs led to the

dissolution of the arrangement. ’Strategic PR works better in a smaller,

more integrated office,’ Haggerty said.

Prior to its purchase by Kamber, PRCG had offices in New York and Los

Angeles and affiliations in 12 cities around the world. The newly

relaunched firm will work on legal, financial and real estate PR, with

an emphasis on crisis management.

PRCG has retained six of the clients it worked with prior to the Kamber

buy and two new clients have signed on. Haggerty estimates that annual

billings will approach dollars 1 million by the end of the year.
